Membership and Auditions
The Edgewood Chamber Orchestra prepares four free concerts throughout the scholastic year and rehearses for those concerts on Saturday mornings from 10-12:30 in the rehearsal rooms adjoining the McKinley Performing Arts Center. Regular attendance is expected, but absences are permitted, especially for work-related reasons. Many of our members are Epic employees whose travel schedules require this kind of flexibility, and we only ask in return that when you can come to rehearsal, you do so with repertoire adequately prepared on your own time, and that you can commit to our performance dates.
Auditions for the 2024-2025 season will be held on Saturday, August 17.
They begin at 10am and will be take place at the McKinley Performing Arts Center. To request an audition time, please submit a request via the contact us form.
When arriving at Edgewood for your audition time, you should park in the lot on the west side of the building marked 16 on the campus parking map, which you will get to by turning off of Edgewood Avenue. If you wish to arrive early to warm up, practice rooms will be available.
Auditions can be an intimidating process and we strive to make ours as friendly and informal as possible. A small panel of our members will listen to a piece of your choosing (which does not need to be from a classical genre) as well the listed orchestral excerpt. While we cannot accept every applicant, we are often able to suggest other area groups who could provide a suitable match for your musical interests and talents, so we encourage you not to let an audition stand between you and the music you love to play!
